Moderating creatives

Review creatives, link them to campaigns and deal lines, and check frame availability.

Whether a creative has been uploaded manually within VTM or submitted via the Creative Submission API, it will be in Pending Approval status and will require moderation. Key information, such as the creative Advertiser and Brand, needs to be linked to the creative before it is eligible for trading.

You can moderate a creative one at a time, or use the 'Bulk Edit' feature to moderate multiple creatives at the same time. See Creative Bulk Editing.

Creative Moderation

To review a creative, click anywhere on the creative row, or select the image thumbnail or the pencil icon to the left of the status.

You will be taken to the 'Creative Preview' page, where you will see the enlarged image or video on the right side of the page.

The 'Summary Bar' at the top of the page gives you key information about the creative, including the moderation status, Creative ID and the user who uploaded the creative.

Use the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons to move between creatives without leaving the moderation view. Any filters you applied on the main Content Management page remain in place as you move through creatives.

When you select 'Back', you are returned to the page you last visited rather than to page 1. For example, when moderating a creative that appears on page 3, 'Back' returns you to page 3.

By default, the 'Approve' button is greyed out until mandatory information has been added:

  • Advertiser
  • Brand
  • Product Category

Creative Lightbox View

To see your creative in a Lightbox view, hover over the creative tile and the expand icon appears. Select the expand icon to open the Lightbox view.

You can pan and zoom into static creatives using the '+' and '-' icons, and watch motion creatives.

For motion creatives, you can also download the creative file by selecting the three dot icon in the bottom right and selecting 'Download'.

Linking Campaign IDs and Deal Line IDs to Creatives

To link your creative, start typing your Campaign IDs or Deal Line IDs and select from the drop-down list. The drop-down shows the Deal Name, and lists only deals that match your trading partner DSP and are in Pending Approval, Approved or Live status.

Once linked, the Deal chip shows:

  • the Deal ID
  • the Deal Name
  • the status of the deal linked to the creative
  • a quick copy button for the Deal ID

Tip: linking a creative to a Campaign ID links the creative to all deal lines within that campaign.

Please note: if a creative has been submitted via the Creative Submission API, you may see the Campaign ID automatically assigned to the creative when the DSP has sent it. Contact your Technical Solutions Manager, who can tell you which DSPs submit creatives via the API.

Motion and Still Toggle

Users with the correct permissions can use the 'Still' and 'Motion' toggle to specify the creative type.

Certain frames do not allow motion creatives, so it is important to select the correct creative type. Any frames excluded because Motion has been selected will show in the 'Excluded' frames field in the 'Frame Availability' section.

Please note: depending on your business unit, you may need to select your motion and still frames using the 'Frame Tagging Rules' section instead of the Motion and Still buttons, if your market has set these up using tag groups. See Frame Tagging Rules.

Frame Availability

The 'Frame Availability' section gives you the number of available, or included, and unavailable, or excluded, frames your creative is eligible to play on.

Please note: this information comes from VIOOH Central and is not dependent on any frame targeting done at the campaign creation stage.

The number of frames in the 'Included' and 'Excluded' fields updates based on:

  • Product Categories
  • Frame Tagging
  • Creative Type, motion or still

The included frame count shows the number of frames your creative is able to play out on, and the excluded count shows the ones it cannot.

You can download the entire frame list using the 'Export Frames List' button. The Excel download, Creative_frame_details, lists the frame codes, publisher information, postcode, latitude and longitude, product format, the creative type, and whether the frame has been included or excluded.
