Building a creative set: assigning creatives
Assign creatives to panels in ordered, unordered and mixed-specification Visual Units, and swap or reset them.
Once you have selected a Visual Unit, assign a creative to each panel. The rules for assigning creatives depend on whether the Visual Unit has ordered frames, unordered frames or frames with different specifications.
Before you start
Every creative you assign must:
- have Advertiser and Brand metadata applied, or you will not be able to save the set
- be from the same DSP, Advertiser and Brand combination as the other creatives in the set
- be in Approved status to be eligible for trading
To add metadata or approve a creative, see Creative details and metadata and Moderating creatives.
Assigning a creative to a panel
- Select '+ Add image' on the panel you want to assign a creative to. This opens the Creative Picker.
- Use the filters to find the creative. You can filter by DSP, Advertiser, Brand and creative type. The Brand filter becomes available once you have entered an Advertiser.
- Matching creatives appear in the list, with their status, a thumbnail, Creative ID, size (width by height), DSP, Advertiser, Brand and creative type.
- Select the creative you want.
- Select 'Apply'.
The creative appears on the panel, shown in the true aspect of the panel.
To preview a creative in the Creative Picker, select its thumbnail. Still creatives download automatically. Motion creatives open in a new tab.
Please note: the Creative Picker filters out creatives that do not match the frame specifications or prohibitions.
Please note: you can assign any creative to the first panel. All subsequent creatives must be from the same DSP, Advertiser and Brand combination.
Ordered frames
In a Visual Unit with ordered frames, each panel shows an order number at the top, such as 'Order 1'. The number indicates the order the frames are mounted in.
You can assign a different creative to each panel, even when the panels share the same frame specification. Repeat the steps above for each panel.
Frames with different specifications
If the panels in a Visual Unit have different frame specifications, you can assign a different creative to each panel. Repeat the steps above for each panel.
Unordered frames
In a Visual Unit with unordered frames, panels with matching frame specifications are automatically linked. You can apply only one creative to all linked panels.
Linked panels have an orange outline and show "linked" above the panel.
When you assign a creative to a panel, it is mapped to all frames with the same specification in the Visual Unit.
Changing creatives before you save
You can change the creatives in a set until you save it.
- Swap a creative: select the panel and choose a different creative in the Creative Picker. The Creative Picker keeps the filters you applied earlier, so you choose from creatives that match them.
- Reset: select 'Reset Creatives', in the top right-hand corner of the page, to reset the Creative Picker filters or remove the creatives assigned to the panels.
- Choose a different Visual Unit: select 'Select new VU' to go back to the 'New creative set' page and select another Visual Unit.
Important: selecting 'Select new VU' discards any changes you have made to the current set.
