The Alerts tab: loss reason alerts

Monitor last-hour KPIs and get alerted when a loss reason passes a threshold.

The 'Alerts' tab helps you create loss reason alerts, so you are notified when key performance indicators (KPIs) are affected. Alerts are sent by email.

The last-hour KPIs

The tab shows three KPI widgets, with data from the last completed hour:

  • 'Last Hour Unsold Impressions'
  • 'Last Hour Bid Responses'
  • 'Last Hour Bid Requests'

Use these KPIs with the 'Loss Reasons' filter to focus on the specific issues you want to monitor. For example, you can set an alert to be notified hourly if unsold impressions for 'Bad Request' exceed 1.

Creating a loss reason alert

  1. Open the 'Loss Reasons' filter, select the loss reason you want to monitor, for example BAD_REQUEST, and select 'Apply'.
  2. Hover over the KPI widget and select the 'Alert' icon.
  3. Name your alert clearly, so it is easy to understand, for example "UNSOLD IMPRESSIONS – BAD REQUEST > 1000".
  4. Set the 'Alert condition', for example 'Greater than'.
  5. Set the 'Threshold value', for example 1000.
  6. Select 'Change' to set how often the alert is checked.
  7. Optionally, add teammates who have access to the dashboard as subscribers.
  8. Optionally, select 'Add custom message'.
  9. Select 'Create alert'.

Tip: before you create the alert, expand 'View KPI query' to check that your loss reason appears under 'Filtered by'.

Please note: the check frequency is shown with its timezone, for example "Daily at 09:00 hours(UTC)". Check the timezone before you create the alert.

Best practice for loss reason alerts

  • Check before you create: select 'Manage alerts' to see whether a similar alert already exists. If it does, subscribe to it instead of creating a new one.
  • Use clear naming conventions: this helps everyone understand the purpose of each alert. Use the format [KPI Name] – [Loss Reasons] [condition] [Threshold], for example "UNSOLD IMPRESSIONS – BAD REQUEST > 1000".

Managing loss reason alerts

  1. Select the three dots icon in the top right-hand corner of a KPI widget.
  2. Select 'Manage alerts'.

From here you can add subscribers, unsubscribe, edit or delete alerts. See Deal Health alerts and scheduled reports.
